Home over a week now
So Dallas has been home for 8 days now - a much needed bit of normalcy for all.....
Last Wednesday we had a bit of a scare. After laying still in a hospital bed for such a long time over the past many weeks, Dallas was moving around lots with the drive from the city, the trip to the local hospital for her counts to be checked then a much needed shower later that night. While changing the bandages on her leg, the muscle that had been giving us trouble appeared to be more swelled than usual. We all did not sleep that night worrying and decided to very much limit her activity levels starting Thursday morning.
Thankfully, the swelling went down - we attribute it to all of the recent action and the brace rubbing the affected area.
We will focus more on moving her around the week she is back in the city getting chemo. She will be in view of the people that can address any abnormal leg issues if they arise ( we are positive they won't but decided to plan accordingly ).
Dallas did have to venture to Syracuse last Friday for blood and platelet's - it turned out to be a long day, they got home around 12:30 am.
Her blood tests show she is pretty much out of the danger zone of infection/fever now so she was able to have a visit from her bff Rachel last night. It was really good to see those 2 together once again!!
I have assumed the role of Teacher Bill while she is home and we had our first class last night. Not sure who will be the teacher and who will be the student when we open up that Algebra book though.... I advised that I expect a shiny red apple on the first day of class but gladly accepted a cold Miller Lite instead........
We have a full end of week and weekend planned before they head back for another cycle of chemo - dinner at my parents, shopping for the promised new cell phone then a family dinner at the Snug Harbor Saturday night. Everyone is excited to see Dallas and I am sure she is ready to see all.
Christine and her mother ( Tutu ) will drive Sunday to the city for chemo on Monday morning. So, we have 4 more days to cling to. Tutu has been a very large help and I need to thank her for her time over the last few weeks. It has been a radical change of lifestyle for her but she adjusted and has helped very much!
We look forward to have Grandma Margo come in town for the 3rd cycle of chemo - it will be really nice to see her and Christine will really need her assistance as well.
During all of this, Justin started college and is doing well. He continues to work at the Snug on the weekends, date Kayla and oh yeah - get speeding and illegal exhaust tickets..... ( I had to work that in somewhere )
Please keep all the prayers and positive mojo flowing!

Congratulations...happy anniversary. You've been out for a week! Still praying for you kiddo. Take care of them legs, but enjoy using them too. I can't wait to hear more of how well you're doing a month from now and then a year from now. God bless you, keep that smile on your face and teach your dad some algebra.
