Checking in
Well, it is Monday - another week the ladies have been in the hospital. Christine has not left Dallas' side overnight since they checked in on July 23rd. I can not imagine sleeping in a hospital that long but Christine promised Dallas she would be with her until she gets out. On a positive note - if Chris can adjust to the constant noises a hospital makes at night, I should be on easy street and there should be no more complaints about my "one to many beers" snoring once she returns home!!
The latest update on Dallas: Doc Healy looked at the surgery site this morning. There is a bit of concern over the troubled muscle but everything else looks to be healing pretty well. It is a waiting game for now with the muscle. So, until things start to become more evident - Dallas is at total bed rest, which means no physical therapy.
So when do they get to come home or atleast leave the hospital - well, we have given up on putting dates on these milestones. Time really does not matter right now - we are willing to sit and wait for the leg to heal, for as long as it takes - especially if we can avoid any additional surgeries!!
Chemo is slated to start next Monday, the 25th - so hopefully with the arrangement we have with University Hospital in Syracuse for the off week testing, maybe they can get home for some very much needed normalcy over the holiday weekend!
The Friends of Dallas group held a car wash & rummage sale Saturday. I can not express my total deepest gratitude enough for all of the efforts everyone has made to date for us!! People continue to spend their free time and weekends to help us - it is very emotional for me to try to explain how wonderful everyone has been!
The visit to Candor gave me a chance to reflect on how much of the summer my family and I have missed while we battle this nightmare! It was such a beautiful day - the smell of the fire cooking the bbq chicken, the wind blowing the trees, the sunshine, meeting new people, socializing with old friends, the peaceful country setting...... Don't EVER take these things for granted!!!!
Dallas' grand parents and family members in Salt Lake City hosted a benefit for her yesterday ( Sunday ) - I have not heard many of the details as of yet but as soon as I do I will be sure to post!!
