A new week
It has been more of a recovery than we had anticipated but we are hanging in there. We originally thought Dallas would be in the hospital for 5-7 days then home for a break in the action before resuming chemo - we were wrong.....
Currently the plan is to have Christine and Dallas leave the city and return home hopefully Wednesday, probably on Thursday - let's hope this plan keeps it's course!! 16 days of sleeping bedside to Dallas in the hospital can really take it's toll on you and that is exactly what Christine has been doing.
Dallas began light physical therapy last week and will be fitted with a leg brace today. Her spirits have been getting better and better since last Thursday, you can hear the sparkle come back in her voice. Besides the challenge of having a roommate that keeps the light and tv on all night, the hospital stay has been ok... Dallas does not like the food and even said " I miss dad's cooking sooo much" - boy I can not wait to hold her to that comment when she gets home!
My mother has been with the ladies since last Monday, that is a huge stress relief for me knowing Christine has someone to lean on when the need arises.
On the home front - for all those that know the story, the living room is finally painted!!! Christine's' mother is traveling from Hawaii on Wednesday to stay with us to help out for 2 months. She will be able to be with Chris and Dallas for 2 full cycles of chemo. Dallas' grandma Margo from Utah is coming for the 3rd cycle of chemo, that will leave us with the last cycle of chemo to coordinate some company for Chris and Dallas.
We are looking forward to trying to capture a little normalcy this weekend - we will be at the NASCAR race this weekend, Chris is really looking forward to it. A chance to get back to normal for a while and to relax and enjoy the sun, friends and her favorite driver, Jeff Gordon - just kidding, she really does not like him ( ask her about him and the tent ). She is a Tony Stewart fan!! If anyone is going to the race this weekend, give us a call and let's connect!!
Dallas will stay with grandma while we are at the race and will be helping take care of cousin Abby.
Thanks to all for their continued support, love, positive mojo and prayer - we would not be where we are today without everyone out there.....

Dallas,
Glad to hear you will be home soon! I know sitting down is hard, but try to listen to your doctors and watch lots of movies. I will be praying for your return home and the adjustments you will have to make in the next few months. I'm so happy your surgery went well!!!
I was diagnosed with cancer 1 month before I had planned to propose to my wife. The doctor got it, we've been married 8 wonderful years, and I can assure you God has a plan for your life and life goes on. You don't even really remember the changes, the healing pain and the boring "down time" in years to come. Keep that smile on your face, keep your chin up, and enjoy every moment you have. Don't forget to have fun...I think if you dwell on the "cancer" word and what that means to your future, it is too easy to get off track...you're awesome and special. You have an amazing story to tell and the story will contine to grow with you.
